Omari Mrisho has signed for Crawley Town after impressing during a pre-season trial. The former Brighton academy defender has agreed a two-year contract, with the club holding an option for another season.
Crawley confirmed the signing on Tuesday after Mrisho spent several weeks training with their first-team squad. The full-back featured in Saturday’s 1-0 friendly victory over Eastleigh.

Mrisho began his development at Brighton after joining the academy as a schoolboy. He spent four years with Albion before impressing during a trial with Huddersfield Town’s under-17 side.
The defender moved to Huddersfield in July 2022 and progressed through their youth teams. He reached the B team within his first year in West Yorkshire before signing his first professional contract in May 2024.
Mrisho later made his senior Huddersfield debut in the EFL Trophy. A short loan spell with Sutton United followed in December 2025, giving him his first experience of regular senior football.
Huddersfield released Mrisho when his contract expired this summer. His performances during Crawley’s preparations have now earned him an immediate return to the professional game.
The move also brings the defender back to the south-east, where his family are based. He can operate on either side of the defence, although most of his senior experience has come at right-back.
Mrisho did not reach Brighton’s first team, but his development continued after leaving the academy. ReadBrighton has previously examined the different routes available to Albion’s young players once they move beyond academy football.
The former Seagulls prospect will now compete for a regular place at Crawley after turning a successful trial into a permanent contract.
