Brighton Women will face PSG friendly will take place at the Amex Stadium on Sunday, 9 August.

Dario Vidosic’s side will face the French club at 12 noon in their final preparations for the new Women’s Super League season.

Brighton confirmed the fixture through their official channels. It will give Albion a home match against Champions League opposition before the competitive campaign begins.

Fixture offers a major pre-season test

Vidosic described PSG as one of Europe’s leading teams and believes the fixture will provide a serious examination of his squad.

“Playing PSG will be a serious test against one of the best teams in Europe,” he said.

“It will be great to play at the Amex in front of our own supporters and it’s a game we’re really looking forward to.”

The match also forms part of Brighton’s 125th-anniversary year. Vidosic said the club were excited to begin their season with a prestigious fixture at their main stadium.

Albion reached their first Women’s FA Cup final last season before losing to Manchester City at Wembley. Their summer work has focused on strengthening a young squad ahead of another demanding WSL campaign.

ReadBrighton recently covered the arrival of Republic of Ireland forward Emily Murphy, who joined from Newcastle United after recording nine goals and 13 assists during her time on Tyneside.

The club have also retained captain Maisie Symonds on a new long-term contract. Symonds is Brighton’s longest-serving player and has made more than 100 appearances for the club.

Facing PSG should give Vidosic an opportunity to assess his new-look squad against strong European opposition. It will also provide supporters with their first chance to watch Albion at the Amex before the new season.
