Brighton have confirmed a Maisie Symonds contract extension after their captain agreed a new long-term deal.
The 23-year-old is Albion’s longest-serving player and has made 103 appearances since joining from Chelsea in January 2021.
The club announced the agreement on Monday as Dario Vidosic prepares his squad for the new Women’s Super League season. Brighton have not disclosed the precise length of the contract.
Symonds became captain last season and led Albion out at Wembley in their first Women’s FA Cup final. She also received her first senior England call-up in March 2025 after representing the country at youth level.
Speaking to Brighton’s official website, Symonds said she feels at home on the south coast and believes standards have risen during the past two years.

Vidosic described Symonds as an integral part of Brighton’s WSL story. He praised her influence on and off the pitch and confirmed the club want to establish themselves among the league’s top four.
Keeping their captain provides continuity during another active summer. Brighton have also strengthened their attack by signing Emily Murphy from Newcastle United after the Republic of Ireland forward recorded nine goals and 13 assists during her spell on Tyneside.
ReadBrighton reported that Murphy arrived for an undisclosed fee described by Newcastle as a club record received for one of their women’s players. Her arrival adds competition in attack while Symonds remains responsible for carrying Brighton’s standards into the new campaign.
The Maisie Symonds contract extension rewards a player who has grown alongside the women’s team. Brighton have secured an established leader whose best years should still be ahead of her.
Symonds has already passed 100 appearances, captained the club at Wembley and reached senior international level. Her new agreement keeps one of Vidosic’s most influential players at the centre of Brighton’s attempt to challenge the WSL’s established leading clubs.
