Brighton & Hove Albion remain interested in Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara and could soon open talks over a summer move.
Transfer reporter Ekrem Konur claims Albion are one of the Premier League clubs continuing to track the Senegal international.
Brighton are reportedly prepared to initiate discussions, although no formal offer or direct agreement with Monaco has yet been reported.
The Seagulls were first linked with Camara in June. Newcastle United and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old during the summer window.
Monaco are believed to value Camara at between €44m and €56m. His contract runs until June 2029, leaving the Ligue 1 club in a strong negotiating position.
Camara could reshape Brighton midfield
Camara joined Monaco from Metz in 2024 and has since established himself as one of the most highly rated young midfielders in Ligue 1.
The Senegal international can operate as a deeper midfielder or in a more advanced central role. His energy, defensive work and ability to progress possession would suit Fabian Hürzeler’s demanding style.
Brighton’s interest also arrives while uncertainty continues around several existing midfielders.
Carlos Baleba remains linked with Manchester United, although their interest has recently cooled because of Albion’s valuation. As Read Brighton reported, United are assessing cheaper alternatives after Baleba’s less influential 2025/26 campaign.
Matt O’Riley has also attracted interest, while Brighton have previously been linked with midfielders including Davide Frattesi and Yves Bissouma.
Camara would represent another major investment following the club-record arrival of Luka Vušković. Brighton have not yet advanced beyond monitoring the midfielder, but Konur’s report suggests they remain firmly involved in the race.
Any move is likely to depend on Monaco’s final asking price and whether Brighton receive serious offers for members of Hürzeler’s current midfield.
