Former Brighton winger Leandro Trossard is closing in on a move to Besiktas after the Turkish club agreed a €20m package with Arsenal.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the clubs have settled on a deal worth €18m up front and a further €2m in add-ons.
Besiktas have offered Trossard a contract until 2029 with the option of another year. The transfer now requires the Belgium international’s final approval.
The 31-year-old has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract and is expected to make a decision shortly.
Trossard set for next move after Brighton rise
Trossard joined Brighton from Genk in 2019 and became one of the club’s most important attacking players.
He scored 25 goals in 121 appearances before moving to Arsenal in January 2023.
ReadBrighton previously looked back at how Trossard developed into one of Brighton’s best Premier League signings, including his memorable hat-trick at Liverpool.
The Belgian later made 174 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 36 goals and providing 34 assists. He also helped Mikel Arteta’s side win the Premier League last season.
Reports of the Besiktas agreement place the total package at around £17m, giving Arsenal a reasonable return on a player approaching the final year of his deal.
For Brighton, the move offers another reminder of the pathway Trossard followed after leaving the Amex.
He established himself in the Premier League on the south coast, earned a transfer to a title-challenging club and now appears set for another major move abroad.
The agreement is not yet complete, but Besiktas are confident that Trossard will give the final green light.
