Brighton Benjamin Nygren Transfer Test Emerges Amid Celtic €30m Valuation

Brighton & Hove Albion’s interest in Benjamin Nygren has taken on a sharper edge after fresh reporting placed Celtic’s valuation at around €30m.

SportsBoom reports that Brighton have monitored the Sweden international closely and built detailed scouting reports on his progress in Scotland, though Tottenham are currently described as the more advanced Premier League suitor.

That gives Albion a familiar value call. Nygren fits the type of market Brighton usually like to attack: 24, left-footed, versatile across attacking midfield and central midfield, and tied to a long Celtic contract.

Transfermarkt lists his Celtic deal as running until June 2029, with a club option for another year. That gives Celtic control and makes this a transfer test rather than a soft bargain.

Brighton Face Familiar Value Call

The issue is timing and price. SportsBoom previously credited Nygren with 19 goals and eight assists across all competitions last season, making him a saleable Celtic asset rather than a player Brighton can expect to move cheaply.

Albion now have to decide whether to move early because the data profile is strong, or walk away before the auction becomes inflated.

Read Brighton has already looked at how the Kees Smit enquiry keeps Fabian Hurzeler’s midfield succession plan moving. Nygren would add a different profile, but the €30m line makes this more than another scouting note.

For Brighton, the attraction is obvious: a player old enough to help quickly, but still young enough to retain resale upside.

The danger is just as clear. Once Premier League rivals start pushing personal terms, Albion’s margin for patient value-hunting narrows fast.
