- Mats Wieffer and Diego Gomez doubts for Wolves clash
- James Milner and Solly March return to Brighton squad
- Lewis Dunk pushing for starting return after training boost
Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler has provided a fresh injury update ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton head into the fixture looking to reignite their push for European football after last weekend’s defeat to Newcastle United ended a five-match unbeaten run.
Latest Injury Updates Ahead of Wolves
Hurzeler confirmed that midfielder Mats Wieffer remains a doubt after picking up a minor ankle issue.
“It will be tight for this game. He has a small ankle issue, nothing serious, so he will be assessed,” Hurzeler said.
The Brighton boss also revealed that Diego Gomez will be assessed ahead of the clash after suffering a recent fitness setback.
“I’m hoping,” Hurzeler said when asked about Gomez’s availability.
“But we can’t risk his health. We have a responsibility for the players and therefore we have to make the right decision.”

Milner and March Return While Dunk Could Start
There was more positive news elsewhere, however, with both James Milner and Solly March set to return to the squad.
The German confirmed: “James Milner and Solly will be back. They will definitely be an option.”
The Brighton manager also addressed the situation surrounding club captain Lewis Dunk, who has not started recent matches after struggling for full fitness.
Dunk came off the bench against Newcastle United last weekend and could now return to the starting line-up against Wolves after another full week of training.
“There’s always an opportunity for my captain to come back and play,” Hurzeler explained.
“We made the decision against Newcastle because he couldn’t fully train before that game, but now he has had one more week and that’s a positive.”
Fringe Players Praised by Hurzeler
Hurzeler also praised the attitude of fringe players including Maxim De Cuyper and Yasin Ayari, insisting both have reacted professionally despite limited minutes in recent weeks.
He said: “They show great reactions. Players are frustrated when they don’t play, but they always train hard and try to be the best version of themselves every day.”
Brighton currently sit firmly in the race for European qualification heading into the final three games of the Premier League season.
