Carlos Baleba’s representatives have contacted Manchester United again to discover whether the club could revive their interest in the Brighton midfielder.
The move is currently being driven by the player’s camp rather than those at Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano reports that people close to Baleba have reopened contact with United. They want to establish whether fresh conversations with Brighton could take place this summer.
The Cameroon international was strongly interested in joining United last year. Romano said Baleba was “pushing like crazy” for the transfer and had agreed personal terms with the club.
United could not complete the deal because Brighton refused to sell. Their interest then cooled following Ruben Amorim’s departure in January.
ReadManUtd recently reported that United had decided against pursuing Baleba because of the cost. The latest contact does not confirm a change in that position, but the opportunity has been presented to the club again.

Michael Carrick still wants another defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes. Baleba has already been assessed by United’s recruitment department and remains enthusiastic about moving to Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old would add athleticism and ball-carrying ability to Carrick’s midfield. His Premier League experience would also reduce the adaptation required compared with a player arriving from another country.
United have already signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. However, Baleba would offer a more natural defensive option alongside their technical qualities.
Brighton’s demands remain the main obstacle. United must decide whether to reopen club-to-club discussions or continue working through other midfield targets.
