Brighton target Tottenhams Luka Vuskovic, Selling is a Mistake According Andy Brassell

Brighton & Hove Albion’s pursuit of Luka Vuskovic has taken on a sharper edge after Andy Brassell warned Tottenham Hotspur they could be making a major long-term mistake by entertaining a sale.

The Croatian centre-back has already been the subject of Brighton interest this summer, with Albion’s latest package reported at around £45million. That figure is substantial for a 19-year-old yet to make a senior competitive appearance for Spurs, but the argument around the deal has now shifted from price to upside.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Vuskovic and Brighton, European football expert Brassell warned that Spurs risk watching Albion develop the defender into a player worth far more than the fee currently being discussed.

Brighton’s Model Is The Point

That is exactly why this story matters for Albion. Brighton are not simply chasing a replacement body after Jan Paul van Hecke’s exit; they are trying to land a high-ceiling defender before his value fully explodes.

Vuskovic’s loan spell at Hamburg, his senior Croatia breakthrough and his physical profile all fit the type of early, aggressive recruitment Brighton have repeatedly backed. The fee would be bold, but Albion have built their Premier League rise by trusting projection before the wider market catches up.

For Spurs, the question is whether banking a large profit now is worth the possibility of seeing Brighton turn Vuskovic into the next elite defensive asset. For Albion, Brassell’s warning only underlines why the club are pushing so hard.
