Brighton have made an improved £45m package for Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic, with the Croatia international keen on a move to the south coast.
The 19-year-old centre-back is currently with Croatia at the World Cup, but his club future has become a live transfer issue after Tottenham strengthened their own defensive options.
Sky Sports reports that Albion’s latest offer is worth £45m including add-ons. Vuskovic is open to the switch after spending last season on loan at Hamburg.
Brighton’s interest comes after Spurs completed a £52m deal for Jan Paul van Hecke, who developed into a Premier League regular at the Amex before moving to north London.
Brighton Can Offer Vuskovic A Clearer Route
The appeal for Brighton is obvious.
Vuskovic is a high-ceiling defender with senior international exposure. Sky Sports says he is now behind Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Marcos Senesi and Van Hecke in Tottenham’s centre-back picture.
ReadBrighton has already covered Van Hecke’s Brighton farewell after his Tottenham move, and Vuskovic now looks like a clear succession option.
For Albion, the key question is valuation.
The club have already banked a major fee for Van Hecke, but their recruitment model still depends on buying at the right number rather than chasing every auction.
If Tottenham hold firm, Brighton may need patience.
Still, the direction of travel is meaningful. Vuskovic wants regular football, Brighton need defensive succession planning, and Fabian Hurzeler’s squad has a European campaign to prepare for.
According to Sky Sports News’ latest transfer update, this is a deal with enough player interest to keep moving.
