- Brighton preparing bid worth up to £20m for 18-year-old
- Chelsea, Tottenham and Real Madrid are also linked
- Nigerian winger is regarded as one of Scandinavia’s top young talents
Brighton & Hove Albion are preparing a bid worth £20 million to sign highly-rated AIK winger Zadok Yohanna, according to the Daily Mail.
The 18-year-old Nigerian has emerged as one of the most sought-after young talents in Scandinavian football after an impressive start to the 2026 season.
Why Europe’s top clubs are watching Yohanna
Yohanna has registered two goals and two assists in seven Allsvenskan appearances, while also averaging 4.34 successful dribbles per 90 minutes.
The Seagulls are understood to be leading the race for his signature despite interest from several major European clubs.
Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Rennes have all reportedly monitored the teenager in recent months.
Interest in Yohanna has accelerated rapidly following a series of standout performances for AIK, who signed him from Nigerian side Ikon Allah Academy less than a year ago.
According to reports from Sweden, as many as 32 scouts attended AIK’s match against Kalmar earlier this year, with Yohanna among the players being watched closely.
The qualities that make Yohanna so highly rated
The winger primarily operates from the right flank despite being naturally left-footed, allowing him to drive inside onto his stronger foot. He is regarded for his pace, direct running, technical quality and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations.
AIK have already confirmed they have entered negotiations regarding a potential sale. The Swedish club are reportedly seeking a fee in the region of £18-20 million, which would represent a club-record transfer.
Brighton’s interest is consistent with the recruitment model that has helped establish the club as one of Europe’s leading developers of young talent.
The Seagulls have built a reputation for identifying players before their value explodes, with the likes of Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh all arriving before becoming established stars. Yohanna would fit a similar profile.

Could Yohanna fit into Hurzeler’s plans?
While still relatively inexperienced at senior level, Brighton’s recruitment team appear convinced by both his current ability and long-term potential.
His arrival could also provide additional depth in wide attacking areas amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of several Brighton forwards this summer.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side are expected to compete on multiple fronts next season after securing European qualification for the second time in the club’s history.
Should a deal be completed, Yohanna would become another statement signing from a club that continues to look towards the future.
At just 18 years old, he may not arrive as an immediate starter, but Brighton’s track record suggests they believe he could become one of the next breakout stars of European football.
