- Kaoru Mitoma injury concern remains after substitution
Brighton & Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh believes the Seagulls have the quality to compete in Europe after their 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers kept their continental hopes firmly alive.
Brighton produced an emphatic response following last weekend’s defeat to Newcastle United, racing into an early lead before controlling large periods of the game at the Amex Stadium.
Minteh felt Brighton’s fast start proved decisive, with the Seagulls scoring inside the opening minute to immediately put Wolves on the back foot.
Minteh On Brighton’s Fast Start
“It’s always important because it makes the game easier for you,” he said.
“If you score in the first 10 or 15 minutes, you have a good chance to win the game.”
The Gambian international admitted Brighton were still pushing for more goals throughout the second half as the race for Europe continues to tighten heading into the final two matches of the campaign.
“We always try to score more goals because goal difference can be important,” Minteh explained.
“You never know at the end. It can come down to the same points, so goals are important in the game.”

Brighton Squad Backed To Compete In Europe
The result keeps Fabian Hurzeler’s side firmly in contention for European qualification, and Minteh believes the squad have shown they can compete against anyone this season.
“Everyone has quality in this team,” he said.
“You can see we can be good against everybody. Everyone has the quality to play in the Champions League.”
There was concern during the second half when Kaoru Mitoma was forced off with an apparent hamstring injury, though Minteh remained hopeful the winger would not face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
“We hope it’s not a long one because he’s an important player for us,” he said.
Senior Players Praised
Minteh also praised the influence of Brighton’s senior players as the club prepare for crucial fixtures against Leeds United and Manchester United in the race for Europe.
Lewis Dunk returned to the scoresheet against Wolves, while Solly March and James Milner were both back involved with the squad.
“They always push the young players and try to help us,” Minteh said.
“Millie has won so many trophies. Every time he speaks to us and we do it, it goes well, so we have to listen to him.”
