- Stunning volley vs Tottenham secures award
- Third career win for Brighton winger
Kaoru Mitoma has claimed the Premier League’s Guinness Goal of the Month for April after his spectacular volley against Tottenham Hotspur, underlining yet another moment of individual brilliance in a Brighton and Hove Albion shirt.
The Japanese winger struck in dramatic fashion during the 2-2 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, levelling the game deep into stoppage time at the end of the first half.
Mitoma’s Award-Winning Goal
With Brighton set to go into the break trailing, Mitoma produced an instinctive, thunderous volley into the roof of the net after being picked out at the back post by Pascal Gross. He caught the ball cleanly on his weaker foot, leaving the Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky with no chance.
The strike has now been recognised as April’s best in the Premier League, with Mitoma coming out on top of an eight-goal shortlist following votes from both the public and a panel of experts.
It is the third time Mitoma has won the award since its introduction in the 2016/17 season, moving him level with Bruno Fernandes and Andros Townsend as the most decorated players in the competition’s history for Goal of the Month honours.

Mitoma’s Growing Influence at Brighton
The award also marks a milestone moment for Brighton this season, with Mitoma becoming the club’s first winner of any monthly Premier League award in the current campaign. It is also the first time a Brighton player has picked up the accolade since Carlos Baleba’s winning strike in a 3-2 win against West Ham in April 2025.
Mitoma has continued to be one of Brighton’s most decisive attacking outlets under Fabian Hurzeler, combining his trademark dribbling ability with an increasing knack for delivering in key moments.
With the season entering its final stretch and European qualification still within reach, Brighton will once again look to Mitoma for moments of inspiration and few will rival the quality of his latest award-winning strike against Spurs.
