Harry Howell Signs New Brighton Deal Before Leicester Loan

Brighton have handed Harry Howell a new contract and sent him to Leicester City on a season-long loan, confirming a double commitment to the teenager on Thursday, The Argus reports. The 18-year-old midfielder, who emerged as a winger through the Albion academy, will spend 2026–27 in League One as the Seagulls look to add regular senior football to his development.

Harry Howell follows a well-trodden Albion loan path

Howell, from West Sussex, made his Premier League debut in a 2–1 win over Liverpool in May 2025 and featured in the Carabao Cup early last season, but first-team chances have been limited. He played in the recent friendly win over Strasbourg before sitting out the Roma game at the Amex. At Leicester he links up with fellow Albion loanee Tommy Watson, who joined the Foxes for the season earlier this month, with Russell Martin’s side bidding to bounce straight back from relegation to League One, the newspaper notes.

Harry has had good exposure to the first team environment over the last 12 months and this loan gives him the opportunity to now build on that further with regular senior football. We are very excited by Harry’s potential and look forward to seeing him continue to progress over the coming year.

Mike Cave, Brighton sporting director

Expectation will be high in the East Midlands, with the Argus noting Leicester have been quoted as short as 9/4 to win the division. Their campaign starts at Notts County on Saturday, and the Albion will be watching closely over a long League One season.
