Amex Leak: Brighton Ready to Move Fans for Bologna Friendly
Brighton are ready to find new seats for supporters at Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Bologna after what the club have called a “major” Amex leak. The water leak is in the northern part of the stadium and the clear-up began in the early hours of Thursday morning, as reported by The Argus.
The Albion fully expect that work to be finished before their Premier League opener against Aston Villa a week on Sunday, and remain hopeful most of the affected areas will be back in use for the 3pm kick-off against Bologna. Should any part of the ground not be cleared in time, a contingency plan is in place to move anyone whose seat is affected, and those supporters will be written to directly by close of play on Friday.
What the Amex leak means for Saturday
The club’s staff and contractors have been working since the early hours of this morning on a large-scale clear-up operation which we fully expect to be completed before our season opener against Aston Villa a week on Sunday.
We also remain hopeful most of the affected areas will be operational in time for Saturday’s second home pre-season friendly against Bologna.
The club added: “We apologise for any inconvenience this issue might cause and look forward to seeing you at the Amex on Saturday.” Tickets for the North Stand remained on sale on Thursday afternoon, with supporters reminded that the South Stand is for away fans only.
Saturday is the second home friendly of Brighton’s pre-season programme, with the Premier League opener against Villa a week on Sunday. Anyone heading down can run through our Amex matchday guide first, and anyone in the affected areas should watch for that message by close of play on Friday.
