Brighton Bologna: Rowe Tips Albion’s Amex Visitors for Serie A Top Five
The Albion wrap up their pre-season fixtures at home to Bologna on Saturday (3pm) – and the Brighton Bologna friendly may give the Amex a glimpse of a side with lofty ambitions. Forward Jonathan Rowe believes the Italians can finish in Serie A’s top five this season, The Argus reports.
Bologna finished eighth in Serie A last term and arrive on the south coast under Domenico Tedesco, appointed head coach in the summer following his departure from Fenerbahce. Rowe, formerly of Norwich City and Marseille, scored eight goals last season and says the new man’s demands are already clear: “He wants a lot of work in pressing. Winning the ball back quickly is fundamental.”
I believe in this team. We have quality pretty much everywhere. Our goal remains to qualify for Europe, but I have good feelings. There is great confidence among us, and we don’t want to set limits. Why not?

Familiar faces in the Brighton Bologna friendly
Rowe is a familiar name to Albion supporters. He played alongside Jack Hinshelwood and James Beadle – the goalkeeper now on loan at Birmingham City – for England under-21s in last summer’s age-group Euros final, scoring the decisive goal in a 3-2 win. A senior England call-up, he says, remains “a dream I want to achieve”.
Saturday brings the curtain down on the Albion’s pre-season programme, giving Fabian Hürzeler’s side one last chance to sharpen up in front of their own fans before the competitive season begins.
