RB Leipzig Agree Brajan Gruda Loan Deal With Brighton

RB Leipzig have reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Brajan Gruda on loan, with the deal including a conditional obligation to buy.

According to The Athletic, Leipzig have agreed terms with Brighton for the attacking midfielder to return to Germany. The move will become permanent if certain conditions are met.

The agreement follows Gruda’s productive loan spell with Leipzig last season. He joined the Bundesliga club in February and became an important part of their push back into the Champions League places.

Gruda made eight league starts during the second half of the campaign. He also produced six goal involvements, scoring three times and adding three assists.

ReadBrighton had reported earlier this week that Leipzig had opened talks with Brighton over a new Gruda deal, with the player keen to stay in Germany.

Brighton Protect Gruda Value

Brighton signed Gruda from Mainz in August 2024 for €31.5m. He made 39 Premier League appearances for Albion and scored twice before returning to Germany on loan.

The structure of the new Leipzig deal is important for Brighton. A simple loan would have offered little long-term value, especially after such a heavy original outlay.

A conditional obligation gives Albion a clearer route to a fee if Gruda continues to play a meaningful role in Leipzig’s squad.

Leipzig will now move forward under Martin Demichelis after Ole Werner’s summer departure. Gruda is set to become their third signing of the window, following Rocco Reitz and Ota Yamamoto.

For Brighton, the deal continues a busy summer of squad reshaping. It also allows Fabian Hurzeler to move on with players more firmly in his plans before pre-season work gathers pace.
