Brighton Women Sign Switzerland Captain Lia Walti From Juventus

Brighton Women have confirmed the signing of Switzerland captain Lia Walti from Juventus, adding one of European football’s most experienced midfield controllers to Dario Vidosic’s squad.

Brighton announced the deal on Saturday, with Walti arriving for undisclosed terms after one season in Italy. The club framed the move as a return to the Women’s Super League for a player best known in England for her long Arsenal spell.

This is not a development punt or squad-filler. Walti is a senior, possession-secure midfielder who understands WSL tempo, European pressure and the rhythm needed to manage games.

ESPN also reported that Brighton have completed the signing from Juventus, underlining her previous Arsenal status and return to English football.

Walti Adds Immediate Midfield Control

Walti gives Brighton a ready-made organiser in the centre of the pitch. Juventus confirmed when signing her from Arsenal in September 2025 that she had agreed a contract until 30 June 2027, while also highlighting her role as Switzerland captain and her 100-plus international appearances.

That pedigree matters for Vidosic. Brighton have been active across the women’s market, but Walti sits in a different bracket. She brings title-winning experience, positional intelligence and a calm passing base to a squad trying to move beyond respectable progress.

ReadBrighton had already analysed why the Walti pursuit would give Albion more midfield authority. Now the deal is complete, the football logic is even clearer.

Walti can sit at the base of midfield, control spacing in build-up and give Brighton cleaner exits under pressure. Her Arsenal background also brings elite habits into a squad aiming for sustained top-half relevance.

The move should sharpen Brighton’s recruitment message, too. After recent squad movement, adding Walti tells the rest of the WSL that Albion are prepared to back their women’s project with proven experience, not just long-term potential.
