Lazio have reportedly made meaningful progress in their attempt to sign Brighton & Hove Albion defender Diego Coppola.
According to The Laziali, the Serie A side have almost reached an agreement on personal terms with the Italian centre-back, with a five-year contract worth around €1.5 million per season plus bonuses under discussion. The same report states that Brighton value Coppola at roughly €11-12 million.
Brighton Face Clear Coppola Decision
That figure matters. Coppola arrived from Hellas Verona on a five-year deal last summer, with Albion’s official announcement framing him as a long-term defensive investment rather than a quick-turnover asset.
His pathway has not been straightforward, though. After limited minutes in England, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Paris FC, where The Laziali credit him with 13 Ligue 1 appearances and two assists.
For Brighton, the question is whether a permanent sale now protects squad flexibility or cuts short a player still carrying resale upside. Albion have already been reshaping the defensive department, with Michael Svoboda talks underlining the club’s active search for depth and succession planning.
Gattuso’s interest adds urgency, not certainty. The report notes Lazio still need to strike a club-to-club agreement, and Brighton have little reason to discount a 22-year-old international-profile centre-back unless the structure suits them.
