Brighton and Hove Albion welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Amex Stadium this weekend as they continue their push for European football in the closing stages of the Premier League season.

With it set to be Brighton’s penultimate home match of the campaign, Fabian Hurzeler’s side will be hoping recent history against Wolves can provide encouragement. ReadBrighton takes a look back at the last five meetings between the two clubs.

Wolves 1-0 Brighton – FA Cup – February 28, 2024

Wolves edged past Brighton at Molineux to book their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals thanks to an early strike from Mario Lemina.

The hosts took the lead inside the opening minutes after Jason Steele failed to deal with a cross into the box. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde drove down the left before sending a dangerous delivery into the six-yard area, with Steele spilling the ball straight into the path of Lemina, who fired home from close range.

Brighton responded well after the setback and created opportunities of their own. Facundo Buonanotte came closest in the first half, finding himself unmarked in the box but unable to direct his header on target.

The Seagulls pushed heavily for an equaliser late on, even sending Steele forward for set-pieces in stoppage time, but Wolves held firm to secure progression.

Brighton 3-2 Wolves – Carabao Cup – September 18, 2024

New manager Fabian Hurzeler maintained his unbeaten start as Brighton boss with a dramatic Carabao Cup victory over Wolves at the Amex.

Carlos Baleba opened the scoring in style after 14 minutes, curling a superb effort into the bottom corner from distance. Brighton doubled their advantage before half-time through Simon Adingra after another sharp attacking move.

Wolves responded just before the interval when Gonzalo Guedes turned Matt Doherty’s cross beyond Jason Steele to reduce the deficit.

The game looked settled in the 85th minute when Ferdi Kadioglu scored his first Brighton goal following his summer move from Fenerbahce, restoring the Seagulls’ two-goal cushion.

Tommy Doyle’s late strike from outside the box ensured a nervy finish, but Brighton held on to progress into the fourth round.

Brighton 2-2 Wolves – Premier League – October 26, 2024

Brighton let a two-goal lead slip late on as Wolves rescued a dramatic point at the Amex Stadium.

Danny Welbeck gave Brighton the lead just before half-time, before Evan Ferguson appeared to wrap up the victory in the 85th minute with a clinical finish.

However, Wolves mounted a late comeback.

Rayan Ait-Nouri pulled one back moments later to spark life into the contest, before Matheus Cunha struck deep into stoppage time to complete the turnaround and snatch a point for the visitors.

What had looked like a comfortable Brighton victory quickly turned into frustration as Wolves punished late defensive lapses and capitalised on a poor pass from Mats Wieffer during a counter-attack.

Wolves 0-2 Brighton – Premier League – May 10, 2025

Brighton strengthened their hopes of European qualification with an important away victory at Molineux.

Danny Welbeck opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Wieffer was brought down inside the area shortly after Brighton had a goal disallowed for offside.

The Seagulls controlled large parts of the first half, but Wolves improved after the break and created several chances to level the game.

Despite the pressure, Brighton remained composed and sealed the victory in the 85th minute. Simon Adingra slipped a pass through to Georginio Rutter, who delicately lifted his finish over Jose Sa for his first goal in English football.

The win proved another significant step in Brighton’s push towards the European places.

Wolves 1-1 Brighton – Premier League – October 5, 2025

The most recent meeting between the two sides ended level after a late Brighton equaliser at Molineux.

Wolves took the lead midway through the first half in unusual circumstances. Bart Verbruggen tipped a powerful volley onto the crossbar, only for the rebound to bounce back off the goalkeeper and into the net for an own goal.

The hosts looked set to secure all three points and nearly doubled their lead when Jorgen Strand Larsen struck the post late on.

Brighton eventually found their breakthrough in the 86th minute after taking a quick corner that caught Wolves off guard. Jan Paul van Hecke rose highest in the box to power home a header beyond Sam Johnstone and rescue a point for the Seagulls.

Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages, with the match finishing level.
